Kevin, Rory is usually right about things like this, but there’s one trick you might try. Find that ODT file in Windows Explorer (or the Finder if on a Mac). Change the file extension from .odt to .zip, and unzip the file. Open the one named “content”. It will have all the text in it, but none

AOO 4.1.3 (AOO413m1(Build:9783) - Rev. 1761381 2016-09-29 02:39:19) on Windows 10 desktop. Whenever I already have a Calc file (.ods) opened, it seems that I am not allowed to open an existing Calc template file (.odt). OTOH, if a template is already opened, I am able to open a Calc file.
