As said by Bret Busby in his reply, LibreOffice has not exactly superseded
Apache OpenOffice. However, I see at http://www.openoffice.org/ that AAO's last
release was on 2023 Dec 22. On 2024 Apr 3 there was a blog post about the
latest developments, but they still haven't been release

Depends on how heavy your formating is. If your document is a simple
text document with very few inserted objects chances are that it would
be able to display with no issues. Otherwise you will need to adjust
to OpenOffice formats.
