When you save a document OpenOffice need to do some housekeeping, therefore
always allow some time befo
USually modern desktop have powerful search features to find files created
at a certain date, you can use this to locate your document.
I wouldnt relly *only* on AOO recent files menu.
Depending on your OS you can use Spotlight in OSX, or Windows Search in W7/8
