Thanks all! I have downloaded version 4.0.1 and deleted the old version.
Everything is i working fine now, no documents or spreadsheet lost or damaged.

Am I missing something? I note that in Open Office 4.0.1 the feature
of inserting footnotes directly from the Endnote Bibliographic
Database is missing. I could do this in Open Office 4.0.0.
