I'm running Open Office 4.2 on a Win 10, 64Bit desktop with no problems.
I've run this program for several years on ALL the Microsoft OS since
XP. with no problems, 32 bit to 64 bit. AND on a 32 bit HP Laptop.

I read the articles included in Mr Cassia's email. I didn't understand ,
since most of it referred to SQL, MySQL, Maria/DB and not to LibreOffice
The websites were geared to Linux, maybe that's why this d

Give it 6 months (for your own comfort) that's how long I hung on to
MS-Office before I quit.
Only the Database is not fully tested by myself because I was not a
heavy user of any database, but I've started trials for my own curiosity.

I did as suggested: changed the doc to docx and it opened without
further problems.
I agree with Dave this should not have occurred and I hope it will be
addressed in the next upgrade.
I will apply this "trick" on other problem doc files.
