Open Writer empty document and go to "Iools > Options > OpenOffice
Writer > Basic font (Western) " and on the card select the type and size
of font you want to make default, set it properly and confirm.

Since a few months I have problems opening a Microsoft Office file like Excel
or Word in Open Office V4.1.4. The file will simply not open. I can open the
file by first open f.i. Calc and than open the correct file, no sweat! The
computer runs Windows 10 64bits. Converting the Excell fil
OpenOffice is available free from the OpenOffice site
http://www.openoffice.org/download/; but it doesn't come with steak
knives or any other special offers!
