I am a new use of Open Office and have encountered a few problems.
1. When setting indentations they don’t stay set.
2. The indentations seem to indent differently here and there.
3. I often get an error message when attempting to open the document.
4. Often times the program does not open.

There is a 3rd party port to iOS called Office700 [1]. It is ported by
Akikazu Yoshikawa (the same guy that makes AndrOpen Office for Android
[2] ).

You don't mention your OS; but if it is Windows 10 there have been
issues with Windows updates causing AOO to crash.
Try forcing Windows to install all updates and see what happens.
