First of all you need to know why the file is READ ONLY there are a couple of good reasons for example the file could be saved as READ ONLY by purpose or a file could been improperly closed. If improper closed you see a file that starts with .~lock. than your file name and anding with # e.g. .

Dealing with balky read-only files is quite simple. Just open the file to view it, do "select all" (usually ctrl-A), copy it to the clipboard (ctrl-C), open a new file using whatever file extension/file type applies, do a paste (ctrl-V), then do "save as" with a new filename. Then you are free t
