Arlene if I understand correctly it seems your spreadsheet is zoomed to too
great a size.

I am using Open Office, and it keeps crashing and will go into document
recovery mode. While typing a document I will be able to type for a
minute and then kicks me from the program into document recovery mode.
Every time. I would like to know if theirs a way it will not kick me
