Try adding
http://updates.netbeans.org/netbeans/updates/8.2/uc/final/distribution/catalog.xml.gz
to Plugins>Settings. This gave me JSON for PHP and HTML (I haven't checked
for Java yet but will do later today when on that computer).
Best regards,
John

Very many features were not part of 9.0, being focused on Java SE only.
Please join the NetCAT 10 program where you’ll be able to try out the new
release, provide feedback, etc, and which also includes JSON.

I need to create several JSON files for my project.
Went to New->Other and did not find JSON in the list of file types.
It was there in 8.2.
Was it moved somewhere or NB does not longer support JSON format?
I went through all categories and couldn't find it.
