In maven1 you can set -Dmaven.repo.remote (not very surprising). In
maven2 AFAIK you have to set it in the POM.

There is (among others) something about compression.
But even when I use (in my properties.xml) maven.changelog.compression=false
I get the "server is not supporting" line.
