I just tried this same code again with 1.0rc4, and I still see the same
symptom. The gdb stack trace for a hung process looks a bit different
this time, however:

Hi Jeff,
I installed two versions of open mpi slightly different. One on
/opt/openmpi or I would get the gfortran error and the other in
/home/allan/openmpi
However I do not think that is the problem as the path names are
specified in the bahrc and bash_profile files of the /home/allan dire
RC4 has been released with this fix and some others that should help
(http://www.open-mpi.org/software/v1.0/). Please let us know if it
fixes your problem.
