I have a few proprietary Windows only applications that I need to run
from time to time. These applications require access to USB port
peripherals.
I'm running F16 on a Dell XPS17 i7, 16 GB, etc.
I'm hoping to get these applications running in Windows in VB.

Thanks for sharing that. I was leaning toward XP. Which version of XP ?

Hi all.
I accidentally interrupted a dnf update and messed up the boot process on
my server. I got the machine booting to an emergency mode command prompt
via grub2 commands. (Painful !)
I need to run dnf with a network connection to finish fixing things. I
tried grub2-mkconfig, but it needs m
I'm experiencing the exact same issue. Anyone know why ?

Thanks
Does this work if the machine uses networkmanager ? FWIW, NM isn't
running when at the emergency mode prompt.
Where does one get a list of the available interfaces ? /dev or somewhere
else ?

Once I found the device name, I enabled it by using ifup enp3s0. And it
worked.

I have an up to date F28 server that boots to the grub prompt. This
started after a failed dnf update.
The computer will boot to an emergency mode command prompt if I set it up
properly from the grub prompt.

I was running grub2-mkconfig. I did not use -o.
I never even thought of that. I was running it from the wrong directory
! Good catch. Thanks for replying.

It still boots to the grub prompt, even when I use -o /boot/grub2/grub.cfg

Fedora 29 x86_64 on a Gigabyte Brix. dnf update berfore Xmas, worked
fine. Booted it today and it won't boot to the GUI. Shows Gigabyte on the
screen. However, I can ssh into it. (Thank goodness for ssh !)
$ uname -a
Linux labBrix 4.19.10-300.fc29.x86_64 #1 SMP Mon Dec 17 15:34:44 UTC
I found this in dmesg:
Kernel command line: BOOT_IMAGE=/vmlinuz-4.19.10-300.fc29.x86_64

nomodeset rhgb quiet LANG=en_US.UTF-8
[0.207360] You have booted with nomodeset. This means your GPU drivers

I am going to mark this as solved as removing nomodeset from the kernel
parameters causes it to boot properly.
However, how did nomodeset get into the kernel parameters in the first
place ?
