I'm having an issue increasing my screen resolution in Fedora Core 13. The
only resolution options available to me in System>Preferences>Monitors are
1024x768, 800x600, 848x480, and 640x480.

Thanks for all of your responses, however the problem seems to have gone
away again. I think the issue initially stemmed from plugging my computer
into a 720p HDTV via VGA while the mode was still set to 1680x1050, so I'll

I think you would need to create a system-wide java configuration file and
then inside that file point to a security policy file that explicitly allows

Does anyone know of a tool chain or a way of scripting this:
1. start recording from a line-in port as soon as the sound level goes above
a certain threshold
2.stop recording after it goes below the threshold for a certain amount of
time,
3. save the whole recording in some kind of PCM

I want to be able to play one audio source through my headphones (say from
one application) and then play another audio source through my line out port
(from another application). Is this possible? I have an integrated

Turned it was a case of PEBKAC:
I had the front mic's output muted in alsamixer. Everything is working now
