go edit the nsswitch.conf file. I did an upgrade
from F25 directly to F27 just to verify and indeed the same issue came
up. So, seems to be something that will need to be done going forward on
every upgrade. sigh... Hope I can remember this one.

I recently had to sit down and figure this out. Here is my understanding.
The mdns4_minimal will ONLY do a search if the hostname ends in .local.
If the hostname does not end in .local then mdns4_minimal does not make
a search at all and so NOTFFOUND is false because it didn't look for the

I upgraded from F25 to F27 a while ago and everything seems good except
at boot up the rescue kernel is still showing F25. The other three
kernels are all F27 versions.
What's the proper way to get an appropriate F27 rescue kernel instead of
an F25 rescue kernel ?

I am getting some pressure from work to upgrade openssl 1.1.0h to
1.1.0.i on my F27 host.
I just updated all packages on my F27 but openssl is still at 1.1.0h in
the Fedora repositories,
Is there any plan to update openssl on F27 or F28 to 1.1.0i ?
It apparently has to do with CVE-2018-0732

monitor ?

Actually rsyslog is what I needed. Enabled and started it and rebooted
and now I see messages and mailog.
I don't remember having to do that in F19, but maybe I made slightly
different installation choices.

This seems like the only palce in the
kernel where the task utime gets incemented or the cpustat user time
gets incremented.
The data shows that the specific process times are as much as 10% but
the overall is 0%.
How can this happen if these get incremented together in this one place?

install that way. I prefer to install from DVD's rather then the network
and I assume a netbook can boot from a USB device.

The history of this machine is that Fedora 25 was initially installed
and then I have been using the system upgrade to keep upgrading it to
the newer release. I just upgraded it to Fedora29 two weeks ago.
I use dnfdragora GUI tool to do the patching. When I selected ALL of the
