I am using Fedora 20 on a Dell XPS laptop.
Since the last software update, whenever I click on the Empathy icon in
the Activities menu, or the Settings icon in the status box, the desktop
freezes, requiring a reboot.
Has any one seen this ?
Any help is appreciated

Are you able to ssh in from a second box? If so, try running top and
see what happens when things freeze up.

Downgrading to xorg-x11-drv-intel-2.21.15-4.fc20.x86_64.rpm seems to
have worked

Hello All,
I am trying to install Fedora 18 Beta x86+64 on my Dell XPS 15z, and
would appreciate any help.
I am running this laptop on Ubuntu 12.04 LTS. This needs the following
parameters on the 3.2.34 and later kernels to make the screen work:
*acpi_backlight=vendor dell_laptop.backlight=0
I have recently installed Fedora 19 on my computer, and am using Empathy
for instant messaging.
One problem is that I cant see the date and time of the conversations in
the Empathy screen, nor can I find an option in preferences to set this.
Can some one help, please ?

What do you mean by 'clean'. Do you eant to remove unused/unwanted
files or remove a suspected virus ?
I am not sure that there is concept of 'cleaning' a partition.
You can use variations of the find command to locate and delete files
and / or directories.
for example:
find /path/to/directory -
Formatting a partition is a bit extreme, but, yes, that is one
possibility

I have never done dnf update, but I suspect you are getting this
message because the current updates are now installing kernel V5.0.
