I just hit a website that has a java plugin and Chrome displayed a big

I'm trying out Cinnamon on f18.
Under Cinnamon settings, I've checked all the options for "icon visible
on desktop", but none appear. What's the trick?

I also have a Win8 VM and it's OK. There's an issue where the screen
doesn't get refreshed properly -- I have to press the Windows flag key
