I'm trying to upgrade my Dell desktop to F16 using preupgrade. I ran the download overnight and started the actual upgrade this morning. I started it running and wandered off for an hour and a half. When I came back it was at the "examining storage devices" stage. But the progress bar isn't moving

Can't get mouse keys to work

I have existing mdraid arrays. They get mounted as /dev/md0 through /dev/md2. After some sweat and tears, I reduces the size of one of them, and used the free disk space to assemble a new array (all arrays we're talking here are raid 1, with two disks). I formatted the new md device as ext3.
