I got "logged out " many times while working on KDE , looking at the logs
"X server died unexpectedly" ,
switched to xcfe for now. wich works fine.

What have you tried yet? What has happened?
If you run "system-config-printer", you can configure it as ML-1610 as
ML1610 is not there anymore.

I needed the printer and when i opened the sys pref to check on them I
get the message
Sorry! The system printing service doesn't seem to be available.
I installed cups and have updated several times the cups files and
still I get the same message on the system preferences, is this a bug?

When using Alpha/Beta/other test releases, the "test@" mailing list is
better to use tha
Besides all the prior answers, I could suggest tu use Splix. I used it
with several distribution including Fedora and it works great with my
Samsung ML-1640.
AFAIK Ubuntu ships Splix per default, so I assume that it is used for
Plug&Play.
Take a look at http://splix.ap2c.org/ to get more informat

I have just moved to Fedora 15 (used another distro before), but it appears
that the sound control is managed by the Phonon... I don't know much about
it except that tried it some time ago when compiled it as a module for KD4,
and it did not recognize all my sound devices and some multimedia
Running KDE 4.6.x on Fedora 15. All of a sudden everything having to do with
the desktop is super slow. The plasmoids keep freezing up. clicking on the
launcher takes forever for something to actually appear. If I reboot, KDE
desktop is just black for a while. But it's not my computer locking up
