I have upgraded from F39 to F40 and my gnome shell extensions stopped working.
e.g.
$ gnome-extensions list | grep dock
dash-to-d...@micxgx.gmail.com
$ gnome-extensions enable dash-to-d...@micxgx.gmail.com
$ gnome-extensions list --enabled
returns nothing.
Any hints? I have some deja vu

Most of my extensions have been disabled. However, the three that I have
installed as Fedora packages (mozilla-https-everywhere, mozilla-ublock-origin,
mozilla-noscript) are still enabled.

when i do alt-f2, i get a small box mid-screen where the cmd is
input. if your access to gnome shell doesnt work, i'd not expect
the rest of gnome extensions to work either.
is there a reason for your manual desktop startup? just curious...

Couldn't find anything obvious (e.g. .xsession-errors) and I've managed
to install a couple of other extensions that are not currently
RPM-packaged in Fedora this way.
Any clues on how to debug this further?

Long answer:
If you want to get familiar with editing javascript and the Gnome
Extension design then sure you can change placement, but you really
aren't meant to change it.
