You are safer to shrink the Windows from within Windows
using the disk managment.

You can install F14, if there is enough disk place ava
i usually take the following steps in such situations:
1. start windows
2. defragment windows partition using the disk utility
3. shut down windows
4. boot from the linux install disk
5. continue until linux install asks you whether to shrink the windows
partition
6. say yes
