I racked my brain until I finally found the commmon thread to the problem
why I couldn't print to my Windows owned printer. Then it dawned on me..its
was not CUPS it was Samba...I just wanted share my experience

I had a similar problem it wasn't CUPS that was broken it was Samba...YUM'ed
the maintenance for Samba, and it resolved it
I was running FC12

and have seen a lot,
Not everything, but hardware can definitely cause issues. I had one with a
video card and fedora many moons ago. If I can help let me know.

Yep, this sounds like a firewall, I have FC13 and working with Putty from
Windows/7 locally and across the net.

I would like to add my vote to this discussion. I am running Fedora Core 12
and 13 x 64 under Virtualbox on Windows 7/64bit, not a problem.
I had Fedora Core 9/10, the only issue was with the evolution of the video
cards, windows had some of the same issues.

I tried: 'yum install ruby-devel' and received this:
ruby-devel.x86-64 0:1.8.6.399-6.fc13
So i assume its 1.8.6 am i correct if so , 1.8.7 must be hiding out
