I was waiting for kernel 4.9.0 to hit the fedora 25 repo but I took your advice
and downloaded it now from koji and installed it
I am testing it now & so far so good. I will let you know how I get on

Inc. [AMD/ATI] Madison [Mobility Radeon HD 5650/5750 / 6530M/6550M]
I use the opensource driver on Wayland. I'm think the beginning of the random
lockups coincided
