I can reproduce this problem on F14/i686. Emacs crashes if it is run from a shell spawned by 'su' only. This is because root's enviroment isn't setup. If you su - and run emacs then emacs pops up but there are various assertion errors printed to the terminal session. Clive -- users mailing list
