itched the displaymanager using
system-switch-displaymanager on the command line.
lxdm now offers me a username input field, nothing more.
I also used switchdesk to switch from Gnome3 to XFCE and that works.

You will need network connectivity first off course, but problem 3 can
be solved by "yum groupinstall "Basic X Window System".
You may need to install a display manager separately but at least
startx should work once this group is installed.
