I inherited a computer running Windows 8. When I power up the machine,
it asks for a
password. I don't have that password. What can I do to use the
machine?

Then,. they gave me instructions on how to clear the error in Windows
XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7, and Windows 8. None of those is going to
work under Fedora.
