This system is a Fedora 27 x86_64 (rawhide). I'm using KDE. The monitor is a
Samsung 27" TV and has NO touch screen

I'm closing this thread. I think we've done what we realistically can
to determine what caused the fsck errors that led to the two boot
failures. I certainly learned a few things along the way. I've also
discovered a few things I should be doing that I wasn't doing before.

ability to open and use keepass db files across SMB mounts. What's weird
is that I can navigate the directory structure thru keepassXC however
clicking on Open does nothing.
