I am wondering if there is anyone that successfully used either a
nokia 6300 or nokia e51 with kannel before. I will be grate if some
one can post a working configuration for Nokia 6300 or Nokia E51.

OK it looks like the modem supports the command. Well there are somethings
you still need to try.
1) Read about "*sim-buffering*" in UG
2) You can also try playing with your init-string containing the "*AT+CNMI*
".

In addition to what Shiv Narayan said, consider using Kannel 1.5 so that you
can start with something recent as opposed to Kannel 1.4 since it is very
old.
