Just curious, it it dangerous to allow www-data to own /var/www? /var/www
is the home directory for www-data, but I noticed that the default user and
group for /var/www is root. Is there a reason for this?

I've set up a Trac site on my server, and I'm trying to configure it such
that when a user attempts to login, SSL is used. I *think* I've configured
my rewrites correctly (see below), but after the login occurs the site is
still using SSL. I only want to use SSL for the actual act of
host to redirect me to the non-SSL host once I've logged in?
