I just want to ask on how can I serve pages while running as a root. I know this is a big security risk, but i really need to run as a root. ex. create a user, etc...modify the sudoers file still no success.
i found another of this in

When I use the http configuration tool the documentation says that the
etc/httpd/config.d subdirectory will be searched for *.conf files and they will
be added into the httpd

Nope. But I'd google for existing work in that area, and if I didn't
find anything I'd suggest doing it by programming a mod_proxy_nntp,
to support NNTP in Apache's proxy framework.
Does anyone know how to build a NNTP gateway through mod_perl?
Thanks.

Would anyone be able to tell me why this works? I understand how my hosts
file functions, but I don't understand why I needed to make this change for
Apache to work.

You need to review the source, take a look at
http://svn.apache.org/viewcvs.cgi/*checkout*/httpd/httpd/win32-msi/trunk/apache_2.0-win32.ism
You should be able to find everything you were looking for :)

I presume Uzo is teasing you, 2.1.9 beta will be the first to build and
run on most flavors of Windows (2.1.8 would only run on XP/2003). There
is no binary distribution yet of the beta.
I don't believe it is - I've foudn out all of the syntax from the MSDN site, as
far as I can tell, because it is an MSI file, any configuration must be passed
as PARAMETER=VALUE pairs on the command line, e.g. something like
msiexec /i /qn apache-blah.msi domain=mydomain.com ...

Hi,
I wish to bundle Apache 2 into an installer. I would prefer to have the Apache
installation proceed silently (msiexec /qn apache-blah.msi) but cannot find how
to configure what options are chosen during the installation (e.g. network
