ACTIVEMQ_HOME and ACTIVEMQ_BASE and others are not set correctly.
Are you using your own script?
Check out the script that comes with the distro in the bin/ folder. It
sets everything up correctly.

But I have started the activemq through command prompt and then added the
activemq jar files to the build path but it still keeps giving me the above

Hi,
as far as I am aware you can use the command activeMQ to control / query
the broker,
but not to send messages.
