I'm using 2.6 kernels as the host and guest kernels ...
I've just been looking round and it appears rootstrap doesn't work with 2.6
kernels - is that anybody else's understanding ?
If so, I guess I've answered my own question !

Hi,
I'm having a problem with rootstrap on Debian Sarge. When I run
rootstrap ./root_fs
The uml instance fails to boot with :
[42949375.37] Initializing software serial port version 1
[42949375.37] Failed to open '/', errno = 21
[42949375.37] ubdb: unknown partition table

Hi,
You can find my install writeup at
http://www.monkeyhelper.com/2006/06/installing_user_mode_linux_on.html
I'm running Debian Sarge stable with SKAS patch (see the writeup) and then as
my host UML kernel I'm using a blaisorblade precompiled kernel32-2.6.16.18-bs2
The strange thing is I'm su

If this is the issue, then you need a newer rootstrap - devfs is now
officially gone from the kernel.
Hi Paolo:
Here are the latest results of my testing of uml_switch.
Guest 1 has eth0=daemon,00:00:00:00:11:00
Guest 2 has eth0=daemon,00:00:00:00:22:00 and
eth1=daemon,00:00:00:00:22:11
When I do my testing using "uml_switch" (no hub), all interfaces seem to
see only the packets that have been se

Hi,
Just a quick note to say I installed a Debian Sarge (Testing) release and I
managed to generate a root_fs fine, so it looks like Sarge stable rootstrap
has issues one way or another but subsequent releases are fine.
Thanks for all the help,
Rob

How do I debug modules with the new UML? I searched around the old
website, and the link pointing to the handy-sounding script that does
it for you is broken
(http://user-mode-linux.sourceforge.net/dl-sf#UML%20utilities), this
link came from http://user-mode-linux.sourceforge.net/debugging.html
