I'm try to get UML up and running, but I can't get it to recognize my
root filesystem. Here's a little background on my process thus far.
I'm running Debian.
I built UML from source, using the 2.6.11.5 linux kernel.

Has anyone gotten UML to build on AMD64 with a recent kernel? I'm trying
to build it on 2.6.11, but I get the following error:

I have been having the exact same problem too. Compiling for i386 works
flawlessly, but I have never been able to get UML to compile for x86_64.
Any help will be appreciated. We recently acquired some AMD64 boxes,
and we would like to be able to use UML on them for research purposes.

I'm seeing a strange problem. I have a UML kernel that was compiled on
a Red Hat 8.0 host system (kernel 2.4.18-19.8.0--I know, old eh? :-/).
The UML kernel is 2.4.22.
When I run the UML instance on any Red Hat 8.0 host system, it works
