From the output, probably fix /etc/inittab not to refer to Devfs names.

Host kernel
patched 2.6.11.10 with skas3-v8.2
Guest kernel
make mrproper
make xconfig ARCH=um
make linux ARCH=um
I got the root fs from
www.stearns.org/uml-root/root_fs.fc-3-base.pristine.20050605.bz2
