I wouldn't recommend to run any "internet" service using root user
I would use special user or `nobody`
folder permission should correlate with the user who run the service ...

I guess you trying to upload office document to the room white board
In this case uploaded file will be displayed in room file tree
In case conversion fails you will find "alert" icon on the right side
of the file name
Click this icon and you will see conversion log in pop-up dialog :)
