yes, I figured out that the HMaster of hbase did not start properly!
Now everything is working :)

I guess you are starting Flink via the scripts. There is a file
conf/log4j.properties. Change
log4j.rootLogger=INFO, file
to
log4j.rootLogger=DEBUG, file

I think you should see also some exception also in the hbase server
logs..for some reason it seems that HBase close the client connections
