No niftier tricks -- you will need to drain/restart because of the commitlog headers. Other than that it should work fine. On Fri, Nov 26, 2010 at 8:08 PM, David King wrote: > I'd like to move a CF from one keyspace into another. I'm running 0.6.8. Is > this just a matter of draining the nodes,

Moving a CF from one KS to another

2010-11-26 Thread David King
I'd like to move a CF from one keyspace into another. I'm running 0.6.8. Is this just a matter of draining the nodes, taking down the cluster, updating the schema in storage-conf.xml, and moving the files themselves? Is there an even niftier trick that I can without taking down the cluster? For

Prior to Cassandra 0.7, there was a limitation of 2GB on row sizes as the entire row had to fit in memory for compaction. As far as I'm aware, in Cassandra 0.7, the limit has changed to 2^31 (approximately 2 billion) columns. See http://wiki.apache.org/cassandra/CassandraLimitations for more detai

This might be an issue with selinux. You can try this quickly to temporarily disable selinux enforcement: /usr/sbin/setenforce 0 (as root) and then start cassandra as your user. On Fri, Nov 26, 2010 at 1:00 AM, Jason Pell wrote: > I restarted the box :-) so it's well and truly set > > Sent from

100 million columns vs 100 million rows/keys

2010-11-26 Thread Marcin
Hi guys, I would like to be able to do slices but have been reading that when using too many columns under one key Cassandra becomes very slow? Is it true and if so what are the suggestions. P.S. The value of the column is just 1 so its quite flat model, reasons behind are slicing on name.
