The advice was most helpful on setting up the nameservers and the email on
on-rev.com. Thanks to all how helped.
For my issue, I misunderstood that add-on domains actually add a subdomain and
that on go-daddy if you set the nameservers first and then set the domain

Did this too. Quite a bit more of a hassle.
You create the new accounts and set the passwords. The account
names will very likely all be different than your old provider
since the on-rev system sets the user name.
So, for example, I went from
username 'selander' at pop account pop.pba-net.com
Pretty sure that's correct. Just re-create the email address and you should
start getting your mail on the new system. Of course, might need to check
the old setup to make sure there are no emails waiting that arrived before
dns pointers finalized.

This has been an interesting thread on setting up a new domain to point to a
folder on on-rev.
It's also very helpful advice for migrating an existing domain from one ISP to
on-rev.
But what does one do to migrate that domain's existing mail accounts to on-rev?
Is it enough to simply recreate th
Jim,
Thanks, I already contacted support but am guessing they won't get back till

I think / hope it was the confusion of the auto suggestions in cpanel that got

Tom,
Haven't been paying attention to this thread and apologize cuz maybe I could
have helped earlier. I tend to jump in too late with a way too simplistic view
and end up just making things worse... still here goes.
First things first. This isn't all that complicated. All you are doing is

Couple things to mention here. The document root can be ANY folder name,
but the folder name does have to match whatever you end up with in your
addon domains list. You could have a document root of
/public_html/fredIsAWeirdo and it will work as long as cpanel points to it
for that domain. I don'
I tried to change the document root and was not successful so I removed it and
tried to start over but now all I get is an error that the addon was not added
because it already exists BUT it is not in the list and I'm now stuck. I don't
know how to proceed.

What the cPanel wanted -- public_html/somename.com -- is correct.
What you put in that folder (index.html, etc.) will become the
website for somename.com
When a user types www.somename.com into their browser, the Name
Servers will send the request to the on-rev server, which will

Thanks. I did create an index.html file in the sub domain folder and when I

yes an add-on domain must be a full, valid domain. a sub domain is just added
to any full, valid domain:
subdomain.validdomain.ending
child.parent.topleveldomain
to not see an apache site as your homepage, you must make your own site by
creating an index file at the right location.

I also was wondering about the DNS Manager at Go-Daddy? The A points to a
64.202.189.170 But should it be changed as well to point to loki's dns at
74.54.153.70 ??

Stephen, Sarah,
Ok, so I tried this and am confused at one point:
1. Buy Domain Name at Go-Daddy. (My son did this)
2. Set Nameservers to ns1 and ns2 servers in Go-Daddy's Domain Manager Panel
3. Create SubDomain in cPanel at loki.on-rev.com with same name as domain
(minus the www & .com)
4. Cr
Ok, I'm going to give this a shot tomorrow. Thanks again.

Ah, thanks Stephen. I only did it once and remember getting confused
along the way.
But the steps are correct i think, just the order was wrong.

Sarah,I believe you have it turned around. #4 has to be first, then 2 and 3.
The On-Rev CPanel will not allow a domain to be added that isn't already
pointed at the registrar's. I've done this for about 5 domains at On-Rev.

Thomas,
If you are on loki, just fill 74.54.153.70 in your son's GoDaddy DNS panel.
Here is a example witch works perfect there :
1.- on my planet-work.com account management panel :
Zone : widestep.fr
DNS1 : ns1.planet-work.com
DNS2 : ns2.planet-work.com
DNS records :
www A 74.54

I can't remember how I did it, but just replying to let you know that it is
possible. I have GoDaddy sites that are on on-rev, and you do type in the
normal url for the site. The domain servers in the whois record show as being
on-rev.

Tom,
Just a quicky reply
On Godaddy you will set the Nameservers for your newly bought domain to the
On-Rev ones. Then on your cPanel you setup an addon domain and you're all
set.
(I don't think I forgot anything)
