Strange that the link times out for you... This is the most important text of the page I link to in the forum posting: "The reason you still get the “you need to install the Java Runtime Environment” even after you have installed it from that link is because… wait for it… that is the wrong link.

Yea, it’s not in the current version, but can still be downloaded from Apple: https://support.apple.com/kb/DL1572?locale=en_US I meant that it’s been depreciated and probably will not even be available for download in the next version of Mac OS X… but I would hope it would be supported. > On

It didn’t make it into the current version either. The “legacy” support ought to continue I would think. You’ll see that Java 8 gets weekly updates, so I think that most Java update notices are not because you happen to have Java 6 too, they would be showing up for people who haven’t installed
