support and develop it further, but nothing came out of it, so consider
ListMagic a history.

Eric Chatonet, the author of ListMagic, passed away in January 2009. Jim
Bufalini, a business partner of Eric, if i remember right, sold and supported
the product for some time to support Eric´s family.
But i am afraid it is not sold anymore. The last post of Jim Bufalini to this

I hesitate to ask but, I found a demo of ListMagic I'd like to use but it won't
run and I'd like to purchase it. Is it still available? It was published by
SoSmartSoftware, but that web site no longer exists.

Hi William,
Thank you for the good advice and info.
I think you have learned the hard way and
will consider it very much because I have
learned the hard way too.
I do like ListMagic and might still use it now
that I finally registered it again.
But I am going to try to use mostly LiveCode

Hi Matthias,
Thanks for the help.
I finally found you can enter the registration key
by clicking on the Presentation tab in ListMagic
and scrolling to the bottom of the page where
there is a button to enter it.
After entering the key it registered for me without
any problems.

John
I used to use ListMagic which I thought was wonderful at the time
(still do) but I had so much trouble with the keys and registering it
and making it unlocked that I finally stripped it out of everyone of
my stacks and replaced it mostly with the DataGrid which can do almost
everything
ion\Revolution
Enterprise\Cache\Misc
If this folder structure exists, then ListMagic can successful register. If
registration was successful there is a file "revTest" in the folder misc.
That´s it.

I have ListMagic which I purchased many

It was registered and when I asked LiveCode

I finally found the key and now I need to know
how to properly register it.

There is also an extra slash in your original path, this didn't throw an error,

I just moved my project from Rev 4.0 to LC 5.5.3. My project worked fine with

Hi,
if one tries to register ListMagic on a system where only LiveCode 4.6 and no
earlier version was installed. Then the registration does not work, because a
new folder structure is used for storing preferences and licensing information.
Just create the following folder structure. has to
Whoops, never mind - sorry.
ListMagic was removed cleanly, I simply forgot to remove the ListMagic stack
from the GLX application framework!
Funny how one can struggle with such things for hours and then realise the
solution within 5 minutes of making a public ar$3 of oneself! ;-)

Thanks Bob. I removed ListMagic as per its documentation - it's not opening as
a sub-stack and I've cleared-out the script entries that were calling it.
Maybe there's some detritus in a front or back script, but I can't find any
documentation on how to view or edit these. An
You may want to check the stacks in use. If I am not mistaken, ListMagic
inserts itself as a library stack, probably in the backScript. You will need to
remove that. It may even be a substack in your main stack, I dunno. Also check
if it's in your plug-ins.
I still had ListMagic inserted

I believe you will need to use form style datagrids then, I'm sure you know. I
have no experience in those, but at some point I will want to jump in because
the notion of checkboxes in a table are very appealing to what I am going to be
doing later on.

You read my mind, Sir. I was just defining the pair of buttons under the

No problem Keith. Also saw your other post about a button in the datagrid.
Once again, it might be worth considering a combination of the dghilitedline
and one button outside the datagrid that would launch your processing of the
currently selected datagrid row. I have some code I use that floa
Hi Peter,
Thanks for the tip and for reframing the problem to provide mutually exclusive
row selection, without the complexity of dealing with the checkbox. Nice! :-)

Hi Keith,
You might want to consider another approach than checkboxes in this situation,
depending on what you want to do with the checked row. If you just want to
carry out some processing on the data in the selected row, you can use the
dghilitedline property of the datagrid to find out which
I have to chime in here too. I love listMagic but it isn't compatible with
Remo. The library for listMagic freezes a quit from your app when your

release it's library unlocked (probably not ever happen) so I
Hi Zryip,
Great lesson - I have a checkbox in a cell. I did have to divert from your

I wanted a row 'Select' column of (just) checkboxes, centrally aligned
Hi Zryip,
Thanks for the lesson - very timely!
And you have anticipated my follow-up question which was to be how to embed a
button within a row - brilliant!
Don't go thinking that this has exhausted my list of questions on DG/DGH
though! ;-)

Keith..

I work through the lessons again and DGH documentation.
However, before I get to manipulating data, I need to learn how to use non-data
UI elements within data grids - to replicate ListMagic's row-select checkboxes.

Hi Trevor,
Thanks for confirming that this behaviour is not coming from the GLX framework.
Maybe it's time to bite the bullet and replace my simple ListMagic controls
with data grids - and learn how to drive them and DGH properly! ;-)

Hi folks,
Is there a trick to have the GLX application framework launcher load ListMagic
in the background but not open its admin window?
If ListMagic.rev isn't open whilst working on my app in the IDE, debug errors
are thrown when the mouse enters any ListMagic fields. So, I

I have tried several times to get support from listmagic without success

Does anyone know the status of their support for the product?
