I downloaded LiveCodeCommunityInstaller-8_0_0-Linux.x64 from livecode.org.
When the installation finished I clicked on the run button but it did

the preferences file was NEWLY created.

It has something to do with the Preferences file.
Now all is ok, script editor appears where is should appear.

Bug 16749 (Current status: fixed)
There are several bug reports (duplicates) about this issue, but they are
marked as resolved or fixed. But so far, and through all the version until
now, the script editor window simply is not available in MY WIndows
SOLVED
Though I can't reproduce the error anymore, I am almost sure it was an
incompatible version of the revxml.dll or revzip.dll. I copied the latest
version of these dlls from the LC 8 program dir into my test environment and
now my LC 8.0 runtime starts without error.
