it turns out a fruity conserve but there is NO excuse for the new Sqlite
framework not getting done at all. I won't even mention the HTML
which is charged as the same as Indy and is still not ready for prime time
(if I read between the lines of Hermann's posts).

Now Software, a stellar company in it's day, made promises it couldn't keep,
and when they tried to keep them anyway, they went belly up because of lack of
funds. That was a dark day for me because I had the whole organization running
on the public calendar and contacts.

That is not the point , it seems that they are adding other stuff before
implementing what was paid for
the new sqlite api/framework for instance.
People keep on asking about sound and there is zilch.

I don't see a lot of people asking for 2d physics.

Which LiveCode version in
Box2d is definitely fun to play with but it's really only good for games that
inherently need physics simulation - Angry Birds is a good example. (BTW, box2d
is also the physics engine in Sprite Kit, which is basically Apple's cocos2d
Lite - since the cocos2d developers started focuss

I'm also interested in creating games with LiveCode and looking forward
to box2d integration. I've been checking out Corona and (more recently)

massive difference having a physics engine taking care of collisions
"Even in the article you linked, the author had to give up the convenience of
Objective-C and drop down to C++ to get that level of optimization."
Touché :-)
Btw, I'll give a shot to QT Creator; it looks interesting.
And I definitely, definitely have to learn writing externals.
Thank you Mark…
I wrote an extensive response to your original mail on this thread but sadly
lost it to rubbish Yahoo! webmail + the 15k limit on the list. (FWIW,
JavaScript is not 50 times slower than C++ but with modern JS engines like

Yes, I'm aware of Box2D integration and I'm very excited about it.
I can't wait to see the possibilities.
But, I'm not sure how much performance boost it will give us.
I've stumbled on an article tonight about algorithm optimizations.
It's kind of a case study.

Well put, indeed.
I'm quite convinced about this.

There is a danger of getting distracted by these sorts of things.

It probably will do a lot of damage to Cocos2D, Box2D, Sparrow
and in time maybe a possible threat to gaming consoles {see link #1 at the

What do you think RunRev's approach will be to this move?
