I think the "Déjà vu"-word-phrase does not fit very good to this tool
due to its meaning remembering any situation in life. I suggest to use
the "Back up"-phrase for this application, something like "BACK UPer"
for example, to give clear menaing with the name of the software.

Déjà vu is known in German as well. Actually, I wouldn't translate a program
name at all. A minor problem with "Déjà dup" are special characters which I
cannot write easily and a more relevant is the connection between dup and
backup. So why not "Deja backup"?

Here's the advice to translators that I give which explains what it means:
"The name is a play on the French phrase "déjà vu" meaning "already
seen", but with the "vu" replaced with "dup". "Dup" in this context
is itself a reference to both the underlying command line tool

I think it's a fine name, as you say it's cute, and you can easily append
"Backup Tool" in all situations where people might be confused. It reminds
me of 'quod libet' - the great linux music player, which doesn't necessarily
