What if there was a new message and I am currently online? The screenshot
proposed only depict one status at a time which are chat status or email
status. To be honest, the icons currently now seem fine. I am not sure why
the community hates them so much.

Wow, these looks amazing. Considering that Lens and Scopes are some of the
main features of the Unity dash, this definitely provides much needed
control for users. I though think that they deserve a separate category as
shown in mockup 1 and 2. While in mockup 3, it is under System Setting/
Appeara
Actually I made Sam to made mockups 3, because all other Unity settings
(the ones that in System Settings anyway) are in Appearance category :)

hmm, that is also correct. The launcher behavior is also in the Appearance
Category. It is just that from the perspective of a Windows convert, the
appearance should technically have stuff related to the wallpaper, color of
the launcher, dash etc. while other unity related stuff is grouped under a

You're right, USC should be responsible of installing/removing lenses, but
install/remove buttons could open USC in the correct position: ie clicking
"install" will open USC in the category "Lenses", and so I could install
them. Furthermore clicking on "Remove" will open USC on the lens's deta
