I'm just reading an article on heise.de about x32-ABI again, that's going
to be merged into Linux 3.4. This might solve the issue for some
applications in the near future (may be in a year). However, I think that
should be discussed on another mailing list.

I made the experience by myself some years ago that 1GB of RAM is not
enough and the situation gets worse when you use x86_64. Firefox may have
improved it's RAM consumption, but 1GB is really not enough and will cause
swapping when you use the system the usual way throug
