For 12.10 the LIM is dynamic ie.. for unmaximized windows LIM icon is present and for maximized ones, the LIM is absent and the global menu takes over. The placement of LIM icon should be little far (about 6-8 mm) from the windows control buttons (close/minimize/maximize) and clear to the windows

Holistic approach to documentation is the right step forward. it is important to note that Ubuntu have started following design-based developemnt since 10.10, i think. Just a quick note on this subject: you say drop everything below 12.04LTS but what about support for 8.04LTS Server and 10.04LTS Desktop and Server? And not to forget the previous two releases?
