This bug report is now almost 10 years old, and as far I know this issue
was sorted out several years ago. It works for me now at least.
If this can still be reproduced, please reopen with an updated step-by-
step on how to reproduce.

To get the app, I believe you had to do
sudo apt install gtk-recordmydesktop
instead. Unfortunately, that package is not available in new Ubuntu
versions. Maybe will be later.
In any case, I'm closing this as Invalid for now.

Since it is a rare edge case, I propose that a project maintainer or bug
supervisor closes this as Won't fix.
I know at least that the upstream maintainer (which happens to be me)
will not be able to prioritize spending time on fixing this bug.

Thanks for taking the time to report this bug. But I would be very
surprised if recordmydesktop outputs in 1920x1080 on any DE since it is
not able to do that due to technical limitations. See this upstream bug:
