Public bug reported: On 8/13/2012 I updated ubuntu 12.10. Now when I try to log in the system flashes a black screen and then puts me back at the log in screen. Logging in as guest works. I tried adding a new user and cannot log in with that user either. I switched to gdm and logging in works

Adding some detail here: Switching back to xorg reproduces the bug 100%. I can click on the launcher, it seems to be the only thing that'll receive my clicks while the bug is active, but new apps launched while the bug is active are also unable to see mouse clicks. Kernel is 4.15.0-29-generic #31-
