I got some more information: The mouse-pointer (no matter if it is the
arrow or a hand) is not affected by the chessboard. It seem like it is
hoovering over the chessboard. Every windows that is drawn, is cut /

it seems to be working fine.
Graphics performance seems to be at least as fast as SNA (default setting) and

Bump. This issue caused suspend to fail on my Thinkpad T61 and desktop
effects wouldn't work either. I upgraded the xserver-xorg-video-intel
package and both problems went away. Took me a long time to diagnose
this.

I tried this on two different laptops (Samsung and HP) on the livecd and
both have the same bug. I did a full install on my Samsung and the bug
was still there, but I did not get a chance to try the classic desktop.
After a reset the laptop booted into a purple screen and froze.

I have a similar issue with the nouveau drivers. I have an XPS M1710 and
the built-in display is detected properly, but the secondary monitor is
not. (The Nvidia binary driver detects it properly). dmesg output is
similar, but the invalid edid is even more suspicious looking:

Hi! I just installed all packages from xorg-edgers PPA as recommended and
tested it. Error remains. Xserver hangs when I move cutplanes around in
paraview, with restart of the xserver and almost complete freeze afterwards
(Only terminals display 1 to 5 remained alive). Same log messages as bef
1-6 (which
caused that I had to write this comment twice :)
Use me at your guinea pig and tell if there is more I can test/crash :) or

1. My boot sequence is messed up. I no longer see a grub boot menu so I can
