Indeed it works when running without $DISPLAY, i. e. apport calls sudo
directly. But it doesn't seem to cache credentials when using gksu, as
this creates new PTYs (to run sudo in) every time.
We could provide a new API root_commands_output to accept a keyname ->
[command list] and slurp in all co
That seems to be a rather interesting gksu bug or misbehaviour: "gksu
whoami" does cache the password through sudo, but "gksu whoami > /tmp/o"
doesn't. So the output redirection breaks this somehow.

"All those I could find look like one of two cases: Either the app
called Xlib from multiple threads without calling XInitThreads first; or
it opened a Display, fork()ed, and used the Display from both processes.
Both would be bugs
There has been no activity on this SRU for more than 4 months, and at
this point of Jaunty's release cycle this doesn't seem interesting
enough any more to SRU.

unreadable text. I suppose the text in the description is the same? This
points out a graphics driver problem, reassigning.

What confuses me is that the udev logs all have the correct ID_INPUT_*
tags, i. e. it doesn't misidentify the keyboard as ID_INPUT_MOUSE or
ID_INPUT_KEYBOARD.
Could you please install the input-utils package. Then find out the
input event number of the Microsoft keyboard from Xorg.0.log; e. g. if
Thanks. So it seems the MS keyboard indeed is like two input devices in
one, one for the normal keys, one for the hotkeys. This is very similar
to Sony or Thinkpad modules, which also have a separate "input module"
for their hotkeys. The input-events output for device 3 looks fine. The

... or for that matter, it also seems to find all other kinds of input
types, relative _and_ absolute axes, and scroll wheels, and mouse
buttons.
I had another look at the udev output, and indeed the kernel reports
strange things in the event mask:
